Exploring the world of a fully branded event campaign
Every year the University of Maryland has a one-day open house celebration with over 400 educational, family-friendly, and interactive events. As the lead designer for the 2015 Maryland Day campaign I was responsible for branding and designing all media for the event including a 20 page program, posters, shirts, and updates to the online presence. Over 100,000 alumni, students, family members, and fans attended the event in 2015.
The poster for Maryland Day utilizes flat vector art and consistent colors to represent the large variety of events in a fun and playful way. The illustration also connects to the Maryland Day tagline “Explore our WORLD of fearless ideas”. The poster doubles as a map which was designed for users to easily get around campus to different zones of interest.
The Maryland Day website uses a modular layout and works with content hierarchically to help users find the important information, such as directions and the event guide.

The detailed program shows a listing of all events and vendors in an organized, easy to scan format. This piece involved using special paragraph styling in InDesign to make editing easy. Event information and content changed often up to the day it went to print.
